Brief Statement of research work

My research focuses on the surveillance, molecular epidemiology, and public health implications of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in foodborne and zoonotic pathogens within a One Health framework. I investigate the distribution, genetic diversity, and resistance profiles of clinically significant bacterial pathogens including members of the order Enterobacterales across animal, food, and environmental interfaces, with the goal of informing evidence-based strategies to mitigate the global AMR threat. Moreover, My work sits at the convergence of microbiology, veterinary science, food safety, and public health. By applying genomic and molecular tools to understand resistance mechanisms and transmission pathways, I aim to generate actionable data for policymakers, veterinarians, and clinicians. Future research will expand into whole-genome sequencing of MDR isolates from low- and middle-income country (LMIC) food systems, the molecular characterization of mobile genetic elements driving resistance dissemination, and the development of phage-based and microbiome-targeted therapies as alternatives to conventional antimicrobials.
