Brief Statement of research work

My research work focuses on the study of molecular interactions in the solutions of biologically and industrially important compounds such as drugs, amino acids, edible oils, surfactants, and sweeteners etc., in various solvents over wide temperature ranges. The primary aim is to understand molecular interactions in solution, which are essential for advancements in physical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and industrial applications. By measuring key physicochemical and thermodynamic parameters such as density, speed of sound, viscosity, refractive index, partial molar properties, enthalpy, and Gibbs free energy to elucidate intermolecular forces such as hydrogen bonding, ion???solvent interactions, hydrophobic effects, and structural organization in binary and ternary mixtures. High-precision measurements are conducted using advanced instrumentation, including the Anton Paar Density Sound Velocity meter (DSA 5000M). The research also extends to the synthesis, characterization, and application of nanocomposites, linking solution thermodynamics with functional materials science. I have successfully supervised 5 PhD and over 60 MPhil scholars, and currently supervise 4 PhD and 4 MPhil students, with several nearing thesis submissions. Through sustained research and mentorship, my research laboratory significantly contributes to molecular interaction studies, solution thermodynamics, and nanocomposite materials with pharmaceutical and industrial relevance.
